Extension Program

My Extension programming efforts center around agribusiness strategic management and agricultural policy analysis.  I work with faculty in the Center for Food and Agricultural Business as well as other faculty in the department to create extension and outreach materials that deal with strategic decision-making in production agriculture, agricultural cooperatives, producer organizations, and other agribusiness.  In addition, I develop materials dealing with agricultural policy that examine both the political and economic consequences of alternative farm policies and their impacts on Indiana agriculture.  Below I have provided links to pages containing some of my work in both of these areas.  These links provide access to written documents as well as PowerPoint presentations that I have given to various audiences.

Research Program

My research program focuses on improving strategic planning for agribusiness firms in a risky economic environment and implications of alternative farm policies.  A number of projects relate to this research thrust, focusing on issues such as strategic cooperative equity management, strategic implications of identity preserved grains, impacts of technology on retail agronomic firms, impacts of structural change and farm policy on the agricultural industry.  The general nature of my research is applied problem-solving for agribusiness and is an integral part of extension programming efforts.  The link below provides access to research articles that I have been involved with.
