Going Green Tip:  Place a recycling bin next to the wastebasket in your office to make conserving paper as easy as discarding it.  BECAUSE: Producing one ton of paper from recycled pulp saves 7,000 gallons of water and 17 trees.

November trivia:  No word in the English language rhymes with:  month * nothing* orange* pint* purple* or silver

Congratulations and Names in the News:

The Purdue Board of Trustees voted unanimously to name Wallace Tyner the James and Lois Ackerman Professor of Agricultural Economics. News from Indiana Council for Economic Education (ICEE):

The Indiana Council for Economics Education held its 9th annual Econ Camp for high school teachers of economics on October 13-14 at beautiful Camp Tecumseh.  The Camp is the professional development highlight of the year for these outstanding teachers.  Ag Econ faculty members Jerry Shively, Otto Doering, and Larry DeBoer took part in the Econ Camp this year.  Comments like this from teachers were typical:

“Thank you for your sponsorship of Econ Camp North.  I always learn more in these two days than in any other professional development opportunity…..The hands-on teaching materials and methods are things I can take directly back to my classroom.  The high-powered economic explanations feed my mind in ways that jumpstart my love of Economics.  And that’s an enthusiasm I take back to my classroom and my kids.  Thanks for what you do to make that possible.”
