Raymond Florax has been named Fellow of the Spatial Econometrics Association. The Association is the world organization for spatial econometrics, promoting the development of theoretical tools and sound applications of the discipline of spatial econometrics, including spatial statistics and spatial data analysis.
Otto Doering has been appointed NSF evaluator for the Center for Engineering Logistics and Distribution which involves 30 companies and 8 universities involved in cooperative research on logistics problems.
News from Indiana Council for Economic Education
Students Adam Aisen, Joey Buser, Harry Murzyn, and Steven Yee of Carmel High School demonstrated their expertise under the coaching of economics teacher, Michelle Foutz, to win the state award in the Adam Smith Division of the Indiana Council for Economic Education Economics Challenge Competition. This team also won the regional contest in Chicago and represented Indiana in the National Economics Challenge in New York City on May 21. For the second time in five years, a team of Carmel High School students has won the national economics championship, which took place May 19-21 in New York City.

Sales Management and Leadership : June 5-6, 2007
Program Overview: The issue of prioritizing relationships based on the opportunities for profit has broad ramifications for how sales people spend their time and how they build value with customers. Implications for managers leading this process will be the focus of this program. Seminar leaders will use a case study of a peer-organization within the industry to demonstrate the application and use of ideas, strategies and thoughts generated throughout the program.
Precision Selling: Building Relationships with Large Farmers : July 10-11, 2007
Program Overview: The complexity of large farm operations requires a unique approach to understanding how agribusinesses provide value. Large farmers have needs in areas that extend far beyond the basic products, services, and information provided to traditional customers. The needs of these farmers and influencers must be explored in intentional ways in order to discover goals that can be acted on by sellers.

This summer, the Center for Global Trade Analysis will hold three important events here on campus: the GTAP Advisory Board Meeting, the Tenth Annual Conference on Global Economic Analysis, and the Fifteenth Annual Short Course in Global Trade Analysis.
GTAP Advisory Board Meeting
The annual GTAP Advisory Board Meeting will be held in the Dauch Alumni Center from June 4-5, 2007. The purpose of this meeting of GTAP Consortium members is to advise the Center on matters of policy, research agenda, and funding.

Tenth Annual Conference on Global Economic Analysis
The Tenth Annual Conference on Global Economic Analysis will be held in the Stewart Center from June 7-9, 2007. The goal of the conference is to promote the exchange of ideas among economists conducting quantitative analysis of global economic issues. Particular emphasis will be placed on applied general equilibrium methods, data, and application. Travel, Speeches and Presented Papers:
David Ubilava will present a poster “Value of the Trust of Georgian Pork Consumers: Analysis of the in-Store Stated Choice Experiment” at the 17 th Annual World Food and Agribusiness Forum and Symposium in Parma, Italy on June 23-26, 2007.
Jessica Perdew will be presenting at the World Cocoa Foundation conference, May 22-24 in Amsterdam.
Wally Tyner presented a paper at the National Agricultural Biotechnology Council conference in Brookings, SD, May 22-24, 2007. The paper was entitled, “Biofuels, Energy Security, and Global Warming Policy Interactions.”
