Fish Fry:
On February 3, Astronaut Jim Lovell and NASA flight director Gene Kranz, aviation pioneers, will share the stage as guest speakers at Purdue University 's Agricultural Alumni Fish Fry. The annual event at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Blue Ribbon Pavilion in Indianapolis will start at 11:30 a.m. Prior to this, Wally Tyner, will deliver the Ag Forecast on energy. Tickets are $20, and seating will be at tables of 10. Seating assignments will be based on the date the order is received. Free on-site child care is available, with reservations required in advance. Special parking permits may be purchased for nearby lots and for inside the swine barn. Without prepaid permits, parking is $3 per car on the grounds.
Congratulations and Names in the News:
Dr. Thompson announced that Scott Downey accepted our offer as an Assistant Professor in Selling and Sales Management, a joint position with Consumer and Family Sciences. He will be joining us as a member of the faculty after completing his dissertation sometime this spring.
Whitney Peake received the Best Doctoral Student Paper Award from the Small Business Administration at the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship Conference in Orlando , FL on January 12, 2007.
John Dillard has accepted a position as a Business Analyst with ABC, an agribusiness consulting firm located in Indianapolis .
Maxime Caffe has accepted a position with Bunge North America as manager trainee. He will be located in Saint Louis , MO.

Farzad Taheripour joined the department as a Post-doctoral Research Associate in Energy Economics. Farzad will be working under the direction of Wally Tyner. He obtained his Ph.D. in applied economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
The Indiana Council for Economic Education has developed an Entrepreneurship Poster which is being printed courtesy of CS Kern Printing, Muncie . It will soon be available to schools in Indiana and across the nation through our national network, and will be used during Entrepreneurship Week USA here at Purdue.
Youth Entrepreneurship Week USA: Purdue New Ventures Team is offering this wonderful opportunity as part of Purdue's involvement in Entrepreneurship Week USA. Do you know a young ENTREPRENEUR with an idea for his/her own business? Or an Independent Sales Consultant (Mary Kay, Cutco Knives, for example?) Whether he/she is an entrepreneur who's ready to take a product to the marketplace or a small business owner who wants to improve his/her marketing and sales skills, this workshop is for him/her. Participants will “roll up their shirtsleeves” and get busy! Each participant will leave the workshop with a personalized marketing plan and sales strategy to use immediately in his/her business.
