Thought you would like to know:

Professor Stephen Lovejoy announced his retirement from Purdue University after 26 years of service effective July 21, 2006. Dr. Lovejoy accepted a position at Michigan State University as Associate Director of Programs for Michigan Extension.

Will Masters and Jerry Shively will become editors-in-chief of Agricultural Economics , effective January 1st 2007.  They will receive all new manuscripts for this journal starting Sept. 1st 2006.   Agricultural Economics is the journal of the International Association of Agricultural Economists, and is among the most important outlets for worldwide research in our field.

 

The Center for Global Trade Analysis:

The Center for Global Trade Analysis recently held the Fourteenth Annual Short Course in Global Trade Analysis here on the campus of Purdue University from July 29 – August 4, 2006.

The course consisted of two main parts:

Part I was a series of weekly, online modules aimed at increasing the familiarity of the course participants with the theory behind GTAP, the standard GTAP notation, and the course software.

Part II was an intensive, week-long course consisting of a mix of daily lectures, lab assignments, and informal discussions designed to introduce participants to the basic features of the model and GTAP Data Base.

In total, 32 individuals from 12 different countries participated in this course; all contributing to its astounding success.
