Wally Tyner has been awarded a Fulbright grant to spend three weeks at Warsaw University in Poland next fall.
On Friday, October 21 st , at the 43 rd Annual Meeting of the Murray State University Agriculture Alumni Association , Jay Akridge was honored with the 2005 Outstanding Agriculture Alumnus Award at Murray State University . The ceremony was held in the Curris Center Ballroom, and the award was presented by the 2004 recipient, Ronald Pryor. Jay completed his undergraduate studies at Murray State , located in Murray , Kentucky doubling in agriculture and business administration. He graduated with a B.S. there in 1982. To be considered for the Outstanding Agriculture Alumnus award, a candidate must be an MSU agriculture graduate and have graduat ed a minimum of10 years prior to selection. Other considerations are contributions to agriculture in general, as well as to Murray State University , MSU agriculture and the MSU Agriculture Alumni Association. .

The MS-MBA dual degree program hosted back-to-back residency sessions for the 8 students in the inaugural class of 2004 and the 20 students in the class of 2005. The program also hosted 57 former students and their families back on campus for Homecoming Weekend.
Otto Doering gave the Elton R. Smith Distinguished Lecture October 25 th at Michigan State University . The title of his lecture was “Basic Economics and Real World Important Decisions”. The text should be on the Michigan State Website or contact Otto.
Upcoming event – National Conference for Agribusiness, sponsored by the Center for Food and Agricultural Business: Topic: Focused Agriselling: A Quest for Profitable Relationships, Date: November 16-17, 2005.
Harlan Day received a scholarship to attend the annual conference of the Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education, which will be held in Orlando on Nov 5-8, 2005. Harlan applied for the scholarship because ICEE is pursuing more initiatives in Entrepreneurship education - having held the first successful "Entrepreneurship Camp" at Purdue in September. Five high school teachers and 25 students attended.
