The 25th annual Farming Together Workshop was held January 28 and 29. This year 19 farms registered to bring at least 52 people to the workshop. The workshop is designed to provide information and answers to questions on issues involved with bringing someone into a farming operation. Alan Miller, one of the workshop planners, says farmers who plan ahead of time ensure a smoother transition when they pass the farm on to a child or business partner. Presentations covered topics such as communicating effectively, developing a shared vision for the future of the operation, creating a succession plan, sharing assets, writing job descriptions and common legal questions.
