Trivia: AGEC 217 is in the top ten classes on campus based on enrollment.  This comes from a study of the report on large class enrollments and oversubscriptions circulated lately.

An e-mail sent to Dr. Larry DeBoer from two students who took his AGEC 217 class:
“Life, Love, and Economic was the name of our AGEC 217 textbook in fall 2001. I would just like to tell you about how your class changed my life. In this class I met my fiancé. Here is the story; my fiancé and I are both from a small town an hour southwest of Lafayette . We both went to the same school and decided to go to Purdue after graduation. She is a year older than me so we never had any classes together throughout high school. And after school I was always working and she was in a lot of activities, so we didn't really know each other, we just knew the face with the name. Then before we had your class together at Purdue we never talked or seen each other. When we found out we were in the same class we started studying with each other and setting by each other and talking more. The following summer we started dating, and on October 23, 2004 we will be married. We owe all of this to your class. We had two different majors, she was a Communication major, and I am an Organizational Leadership and Supervision major. She also was a year ahead of me. So by luck the only class we had the same was AGEC 217 and we just both happen to be in it together. There is no doubt in either of our minds that if it weren't for your class we wouldn't have started talking and we most likely wouldn't be getting married. So we just wanted to write you and tell you about our story of LIFE, LOVE, and AGECONOMICS, and to thank you for your class. You and your unique style of teaching and AGEC 217 will always be in our lives and passed on when we tell people how we met. Once again THANK YOU."
