AICC Promotes Entrepreneurship Programming at Extension Conference
Entrepreneurial ventures in Indiana are vital sources of economic growth. But because entrepreneurs tend to haphazardly begin their ventures, many end as expensive failures. Easy to use and accessible business planning tools are needed. Educators at Purdue's Agricultural Innovation and Commercialization Center are developing business planning resources and delivery mechanisms for reaching these entrepreneurs. These were profiled at the annual Showcase of Excellence. The focus of their work has been on creating a practical Internet website that guides entrepreneurs through the business planning process in stages. In each of the stages the entrepreneur answers the key questions that guide the business creation process. The entrepreneur's work becomes a business plan that may be taken to potential partners or investors. A wide variety of publications and other resources are available to assist in venture development. In addition to virtual delivery via the website, www.agecon.purdue.edu/planner , the entrepreneur may access one-on-one assistance through the New Ventures team of Extension educators.
AICC Plans Entrepreneurship Workshop
“THE ENTREPRENEURIAL CHALLENGE…from idea to income!” is a two-day workshop for entrepreneurs. The first day has practical sessions on marketing, networking, and business planning, as well as interactive discussions with successful entrepreneurs. The second day is devoted to a personal, guided introduction through the AICC Business Planner , a brand new web-based tool to assist entrepreneurs through the business planning process. It will guide users step-by-step and stage-by-stage through the business planning process by asking the key questions in planning a venture. This workshop is developed by the Agricultural Innovation and Commercialization Center (AICC), The New Ventures Team, the Indiana Cooperative Development Center , the Office of USDA Rural Development and Indiana Farm Bureau. The workshop will be held 1 and 2 December on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis , Indiana . Contact Jane Anderson at 765/496-3099 or jane1@purdue.edu for more information.
