WAVE hits Kansas City in National Marketing Competition
The NAMA Marketing Competition Team advanced to the semifinals of a national marketing competition hosted by the National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA) April 14-15 in Kansas City, Missouri. Faculty advisors: Dr. Christine Wilson and Dr. Joe Uhl are pleased to announce that Purdue placed in the top 8 teams in the competition. Teams decide on a project and develop a plan to successfully bring the product or service to the marketplace. The Purdue University team had 10 students involved with this year's project to market WAVE, a soy-based gelatin product. The team spent the last several months doing market research, writing the marketing plan and developing a presentation. Congratulations to: Joy Deatsman, Armelle Dussutour, Amanda Froedge, Beth Rhoads, Katie Robertson, Jody Carlson, Alexis Fincher, Jake Lebo, Nissa Majors, and Thomas Vias.
Please join us in congratulating the administrative and professional staff members who have been advanced in rank beginning with the next fiscal year. These colleagues have shown exceptional effort in their jobs to merit this recognition. Frank Dooley was named Outstanding Advisor and Andy Peter was named Outstanding Junior at the School of Agriculture Awards Banquet. Congratulations to Frank and Andy for these much deserved honors.
Sandra Rivera was invited to participate in Governors State University's Distinguished Lecture Series and presented, “Assessing the Impact of U.S. Trading Policies in a Globalized World,” April 20, 2004.
Thought You Would Like To Know:
The Center for Global Trade Analysis will be teaching an intensive Short Course in Global Trade Analysis to 25 trade policy economists from South America in early May. The course will take place in Buenos Aires, and is sponsored by the Inter-American Development Bank.

Kevin McNamara traveled to Kabul, Afghanistan, April 14-20, 2004 as part of a USDA team led by Deputy Secretary Moseley to assess the potential for USDA contributions to Afghanistan's reconstruction efforts. The team met with several Afghan ministries as well as U.S. Embassy NGO staff supporting reconstruction efforts.
Kevin McNamara participated in the Agricultural Links Conference of Pakistan's Nation Agriculture Center in Islamabad, Pakistan on April 20, 2004. Dr. McNamara was the discussant for the Social Sciences Division papers section.
