Summer Session 2004 |
Congratulations and Names in the News:
Jennifer Dennis accepted the joint offer from HLA and AGEC. The position's tenure home will be in the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture with 70% appointment to HLA and 30% appointment to AGEC.
Distinguished Agricultural Alumni Activities – Two alumni will be honored: Mr. Tom Davis, publisher for Successful Farming magazine, and Mr. G. William Hoagland, Director of Budget and Appropriations for Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist. The DAA Awards will be held on Friday, April 2.
Vickie Maris (marketing manager for the Center for Food and Agricultural Business) and two student interns Laura Eagin and Amanda Pauwels won a Silver Award in the ADDY competition sponsored by the Association of Advertising and Marketing Professionals. The theatre posters, entered in the poster division of the Collateral Materials Category, were stunning, 6-foot high posters were displayed on the walls of Fowler Hall throughout the Center's National Conference (November 2003). They tied directly to the theme developed for National Conference that was used throughout the marketing material, including the program brochure, postcards, PowerPoint presentations and other pieces.
Something special to note about this award is that it is the only award of the night that honored creative work done by student talent. The majority of entries featured the talent of professional creative directors and designers employed by advertising agencies and in-house design shops throughout the Lafayette area and Chicago. And with the exception of awards given to Purdue Alumni Association pieces and a Residence Hall piece, all the other Purdue-entered award winners were athletics related. It was a special honor for the Center posters to rank in that group of very high-ticket design pieces.
