During the week of June 2, the Center for Global Trade
Analysis held its annual advisory board meeting and conference
in Taiwan. This was hosted by the Center of Sustainable
Development at National Tsing-Hua University, and sponsored
by a dozen ministries and research institutes. The conference
was opened with a letter from the President of Taiwan, and
there was high level involvement from the Taiwanese government
and universities throughout the conference. The Taiwan conference
also set a record for overall attendance at this annual
event with more than 400 participants - about half from
Taiwan and half from overseas. Also in attendance were more
than 40 researchers from Mainland China. This was the largest
delegation from the Mainland ever to attend an academic
conference in Taiwan. For more details, as well as access
to the conference program and papers, go to: www.gtap.agecon.purdue.edu/events/default.asp

EMBA Class spends final in-residency studying in the Netherlands:
The Executive MBA in Food and Agricultural Business class
that began in the summer of 2000 recently returned from
its in-residency session in the Netherlands. Sixteen students
spent two weeks at Wageningen University from April 29 until
May 11. This was the fourth and final module of their program.
In-class sessions and field rips to several businesses in
the Netherlands and the EU headquarters in Brussels, Belgium
helped the students to gain a new appreciation for the international
food and agribusiness market. This group of students will
graduate in August 2002 with a Masters of Business Administration
degree. Applications are currently being taken for the 2002
EMBA class. Contact Luanna DeMay at luanna@purdue.edu.
