Congratulations and Names in the News:
Congratulations to Joan Fulton and Freddie Barnard for
receiving the Junior and Senior PUCESA Extension Awards
for their outstanding extension programs and professional
contributions. The Annual Extension Awards Banquet was held
October 16, 2001.
Will Master's research on the links between climate and
economic performance continues to get media attention, with
new articles in ABCNews.com and the Indianapolis Star, and
radio interest in Australia and Ireland. For more information

The Executive MBA in Food and Agribusiness class that began
in August of 2001 returns to campus for their first two-week
in-residency session November 5-17. This class of 28, food
and agribusiness professionals, have an average age of 35
with 12 years of business experience. Twelve states are
represented as well as the countries of Bulgaria, Germany
and Guatemala. Thirty percent of the students already have
advanced degrees.
The EMBA program is a 2-year cohort program for working
professionals to obtain their MBA with a focus on food and
agricultural business. The program uses distance education
technology and a limited number of in-residency sessions.
This fully accredited MBA is a joint program between the
School of Agriculture and the Krannert School of Management.

Graduate student travel scholarships are available to attend
the 2002 International Food and Agribusiness Management
Association (IAMA) World Forum and Symposium, The Netherlands,
June 7-11, 2002. The deadline is January 15, 2002 - see
http://www.ifama.org for more information.
The application deadline for the Sylvia Lane Fellowship
is November 15th. This fellowship provides an opportunity
for women who are recent graduates and current graduate
students to work with a mentor at another institution. The
fellowship may involve spending several months at the mentor's

Ag Econ launches a new Study Abroad web site:
The start of the fall semester was marked by the introduction
of a new destination on the world wide web. The site, designed
by Associate Professor Gerald Shivery and department web
specialist Matt Mooney, aims to promote and facilitate study
abroad among Ag Econ undergraduates. The site includes basic
information on study abroad, video clips from students who
have recently studied abroad, and a ‘location finder'
designed to help students locate study abroad programs that
match their interests. The site, which is located at http://www.agecon.purdue.edu/study_abroad
also contains special information for parents of study abroad
students as well as information for individuals and institutions
interested in sponsoring undergraduate study aborad.
