Center for Food and Agricultural Business
Seats for the upcoming National Conference for Agribusiness,
January 29-30, 2001, are starting to fill as prospects learn
of the timely, Selling Redefined - Innovative sales strategies
for a virtual world. The National Conference page on the
Center's Website is kept current with the agenda overview,
registration information and a growing list of speakers.
The Center for Agricultural Business recently hosted a
group of about 25 people representing the Polish seed industry
for a program that included time in the classroom, visits
to farms and seed companies in the Midwest, plus plenty
of Purdue, Indiana and U.S. hospitality.
Job Posting: The Indiana Council for Economic Education
(ICEE) has a position opening - Assistant Director. The
nature of the position is Community/External Support. This
Assistant Director is responsible for working with volunteers
at the state and local level to support and strengthen the
fund-raising efforts of the ICEE. An undergraduate degree
is required, and at least three years of experience in this
field is preferred. Qualifications include excellent proposal
writing, organizational, interpersonal and public relations
skills. Salary commensurate with training and experience.

In December, Otto Doering was working in Australia and
gave talks at the University of Melbourne, The Murray Darling
Basin Commission, The Victoria Department of Resources and
Environment, and the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and
Resource Economics. While at ABARE, Otto had a visit with
Gill Rodriquez (Ph.D. 1978) who claimed he was indoctrinating
the new staff at ABARE in the AGEC 602 research methods
tradition. "Forget the models, first identify the problem!"

Sabbatic Leave Opportunity: Mount Holyoke College - one
or two year visiting position as instructor in economics,
economic development, econometrics.
