Mohammad Zaman Amini (Amini) was born on Feb, 11, 1983 in a traditional family in Ghazni, Afghanistan. He grew up and attended primary school in Ghazni.  He graduated from Albirooni Jermatoo High School in 2001. Amini graduated from Kabul University with a BS degree in Agronomy.  After graduation Amini was hired as a faculty member at Kabul University. 

In 2006 he was awarded a fellowship to study for an MS degree in agronomy at Purdue University. He came to the United States in October, 2007 and attended a seven-month English training course in order to meet the English requirements for admission to Purdue University. He began study at Purdue University in June 2008 to earn admission to Purdue’s graduate program.
