Farmers as General Managers
Managers of farms have many roles. One role is that of technologist -
evaluating old and new technologies so that the most appropriate
technology is used. Being good at selecting and applying appropriate
technology is an important contributor to low per unit costs. Another
role has been that of laborer. The farmer and family members are the
major source of labor on a family farm. Still another role is that of
