Programs: 29th Annual Farming Together Workshop

Stewart Center, Room 314, Purdue University
January 29-30, 2010

As you look towards the future of your farming operation, there are many issues to consider. One issue might be how to bring a son, daughter, or partner into the farming operation. The Agricultural Economics Department at Purdue University will be hosting a farming together workshop on January 30-31, 2009, on the Purdue campus. This workshop will provide valuable information and answer questions on the issues involved with bringing someone into the operation. The workshop provides an opportunity for you, your son, daughter, or partner to begin making decisions together about the future of the farm business. This conference is also a wonderful opportunity to spend a weekend with a family member who is attending Purdue.

A copy of the brochure for the 30th annual workshop is available for download from this site. If you have an interest in the workshop and would like to be notified when the brochure becomes available, send an e-mail today to millerwa@purdue.edu .

For some of the sessions, it is helpful to gather information prior to the workshop. Items to submit prior the workshop shop include the following:

1.       For the session on communications, we ask that you complete the Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator. A copy for each person attending the workshop will be sent to you when you register for the workshop.

2.       For the Assessing Your Resources session, we ask that you submit some balance sheet and income statement data. These data are used to calculate various measures of financial performance that will be discussed as a part of this session. A form for reporting these data and a set of instructions will be set to you when you register, but these are also available here –
