LYNN S. ROBERTSON (1890-1973)
Professor Robertson's major efforts were in the areas of farm management and
production economics, not only in Indiana, but nationally and internationally. "Robbie" authored
several books and numerous research and extension bulletins and articles. He
taught a wide range of courses. He set the high standards for graduate study
in the Department that lead to a world wide reputation for excellence. "Robbie" began
his Purdue career in 1914 as Purdue's first agricultural economist, serving
as an extension economist, shifting to Assistant Head for teaching and research
in 1928. In 1959, he served as Chief of Party for the Purdue-Brazil Project,
returning to the campus as coordinator for that project until his retirement
in 1963. Beyond retirement, he continued his active and alert contributions
to a great array of community services, including authoring A History of
Agricultural Economics at Purdue University, 1973. B.S. Minnesota, 1914; M.S Purdue,
1930; Ph.D. Cornell, 1937.
