ORSON G. LLOYD (1884-1969)
Professor Lloyd's most significant accomplishment was in guiding the growth of a fledgling Department to one of the larger and most highly regarded Departments of Agricultural Economics in the world. His major areas of contribution were in the fields of land tenure, rural sociology and rural credit. "Prof." Lloyd was active as teacher, researcher, and in extension. He organized the Indiana Farm Management Association. He came to Purdue in 1920 as head of the newly organized Farm Management Department, which was later to become the Agricultural Economics Department. He continued in that capacity until 1946 when he turned his attentions to full time research until his retirement in 1954. He was active in many clubs, fraternities, professional organizations, and his church, Central Presbyterian. B.S.A. Utah Agricultural College, 1910; M.S. Wisconsin, 1912.
