Professor Lawrence P. "Larry" Bohl dedicated his life to teaching
and counseling in the department for over 35 years. He received his B.S. degree
from Montana State University in 1953 and subsequently taught Vocational Agriculture
in Montana High Schools for eleven years. He came to Purdue in 1964 to work
on advanced degrees. While studying for his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees he became
a teaching assistant and an instructor and taught seven different courses.
Larry served as advisor to several student clubs and was a Faculty Fellow in
Windsor Hall. After completing his Ph.D. in 1971, he joined the department
as Assistant Professor and assumed the role of Head Undergraduate Counselor.
He continued his teaching, counseling and advisor responsibilities. He also
originated and taught "Sophomore Seminar" and worked with students
from recruitment through placement.
Professor Bohl's special interests include business management with emphasis
on veterinary practice management. His research centered on manager behavior
and time-motion studies. He assisted in the development of some of the first
computerized management simulation programs in the profession. He was inducted
into the Scientific Research Society, Sigma Xi, but his true passion was working
in all aspects of undergraduate education. Professor Bohl was recognized in
