RONALD H. BAUMAN (1901-1965)
Professor Bauman was recognized throughout the state and nation as an able
economic analyst, swine researcher, and extension educator. He was the outlook
work leader for Indiana, participating in the national Outlook Conferences,
and was in much demand as a teacher, consultant and advisor on both the short
and long-run outlook for agriculture. Ronald joined the Purdue staff in 1937
in Farm Management Extension, following his experience as a bank farm manage-ment
specialist, a farm loan supervisor for the Aetna Life Insurance Company, and
a member of the Farm Credit Administration staff in Washington, D.C. He was
Food and Agriculture Officer for the Marshall Plan in Ireland during 1950-51.
His research and teaching in swine farm management contributed significantly
to the efficiency of the swine industry. He was a responsible and attentive
participant in a number of professional and civic organizations. B.S.A. Purdue,
