DAVID H. BACHE (1924-)
Dave Bache began his association with Purdue as a freshman in The School of
Agriculture in 1942; he retired in 1988. He spent 15 of those 46 years in non-Purdue
activities: the military, resident farm management and sales. He had several
jobs at Purdue: Superintendent of The Miller Purdue Agricultural Center, Area
Farm Management Agent, Extension Farm Management Specialist. He earned Masters
and PhD. degrees while working as an Instructor in the Ag. Econ Dept. Over
the years, he taught four different undergraduate courses at Purdue. He served
as counselor to a great many Indiana farm families who found him to be a wise,
gentle advisor. His special area of expertise was in the economics of pork
production. He received the Hovde award in 1985. His work was also recognized
by awards from: The Indiana Farm Management Association, The Purdue Extension
Specialists Association, The American Agricultural Economics Association,
