Purpose: To provide supplemental fire equipment and personnel to each of the respective Units in the event of a large fire or other emergency connected with fire service. (P. 1)

Organization: Multiple-party agreement. No governing board. Multiple supply: Any Unit may supply service to any other, or several Units may supply service to a single Unit simultaneously. (Pp. 1, 4)

Duration: No time limit given.

Financing: Mutual aid furnished under this agreement is without charge to the Unit or department requesting the aid. (P. 3)

Administration: Mutual aid may be requested as follows: Requests for mutual aid shall be made by the ranking officer at the scene. The requesting officer shall specify the amount and type of equipment and the number of personnel needed. If the need is large, the requesting department shall give proper regard to spreading its request for mutual aid to several departments. (P. 1)

Response to a request for mutual aid shall be as follows: The decision to render mutual aid is made by the ranking officer of each department. Judgment of said ranking officer is final and conclusive. The ranking officer of responding department will notify requesting department of the response. (P. 2)

Procedure at scene: Ranking officer of responding department will place its equipment and personnel at the command of the requesting department. Requesting department may turn over command to responding department, upon the agreement of the ranking officer of each. (P. 2)

Withdrawal from scene: Responding department shall remain under the command of the requesting department until: (a) released by the requesting department's officer in command at the scene, or (b) withdrawn by the responding department. Responding department may withdraw because of an emergency within its own jurisdiction or because requesting department is unreasonably placing equipment or personnel at risk. (P. 2)

Exceptions: No Unit will be required to respond to any commercial or manufacturing facility which would be eligible for a fire service contract. Response to any other facility will be only as a secondary mutual aid response unless an existing fire service contract provides otherwise. (P. 2)

Liability: Agreement covers jurisdictional liability and recovery of expenses and losses. (P. 3)

Termination: Withdrawal requires giving 30 days written notice to the other Units. (P. 3)
