Purpose: To establish a police officer of the City Police Department as the Security Coordinator of

Duration: 5 years. Automatically extended for periods of 5 years unless terminated. (p. 4)
Services delivered: Duties of Security Coordinator include: Personally provide uniformed police
services. Develop and implement safety programs, including classroom instruction. Provide security
at extra-curricular activities. Recruit, train, and supervise security guards. Conduct internal
investigations. Become familiar with habits of juvenile delinquents and interdict in their criminal
activities. Enforce truant policies. Be a positive role model for students. (pp. 3-4)
Financing: School Corporation will fully pay the salary and benefits of the Security Coordinator.
Size of salary and benefits will equal that received by a City police officer of equivalent rank and
seniority. "Exhibit A" is a salary-and-benefit cost estimate for four rankings of officers for 1995.
Total costs per officer for 1995 range from $38,335 to $47,835. Police Chief will provide to
Superintendent, prior to July 1 of each year, an estimate of the salary and benefits cost for the
Security Coordinator for the following year. Monies will also be paid for the use and upkeep of a
Police Department vehicle, amounting to $3,960 per year. Manner of payment will be agreed upon
by the Police Chief and Superintendent. (pp. 2-3) A furnished office and support equipment (not
specified) provided for Security Coordinator. (p. 4)
Administration: School Corporation Superintendent and Police Chief (or their designees) will
jointly determine which police officer will be appointed to the position of Security Coordinator.
Composition of joint board is as follows: School Board appoints two (2) members and Board of
Safety appoints two (2) members. Controller of the City serves as an ex-officio, non-voting member
for the purpose of accounting for all funds transferred under this Agreement. Meetings conducted
in accordance with I. C. 5-14-1. (p. 2)
Liability: School Corporation indemnifies the City, Board of Safety, and Police Department against
any actions arising out of this Agreement. In addition, City, Board of Safety, and Police Department
agree to indemnify the School Board against any actions that arise due to the alleged negligent
training or hiring of the police officer serving as Security Coordinator. (p. 5)
Termination: Either Party may terminate Agreement by December 31 of any year by providing
notice of this intention to the other Party on or before the preceding October 1. (p. 4)
