Purpose: For the Pike Township Fire Department and the Indianapolis Fire Department to cooperate
in the purchase, sale, and exchange of equipment, supplies, and consulting services between
themselves in order to reduce costs. (P. 1)
Function: Support functions, Purchasing
Type: Coordination
Organization: Joint agreement. No governing board. Joint supply: Both fire departments will coordinate their purchasing efforts so as to save each other money.
Duration: 1 year, from March 1994 to March 1995. Automatically renewed for 1 year terms unless
one of the parties terminates. (Pp. 1-2)
Administration: The parties shall enter into a written contract for any proposed cooperative purchase, sale, or exchange. (P. 2) Each party shall draft all future contracts and bidding documents in a manner so that both parties may purchase directly from the successful bidder. (P. 2) Other methods of cooperation may include: A) The purchasing of services, etc., by one party on behalf of both parties without public bidding; B) The joint purchasing of services, etc., directly from a vendor without public bidding. This agreement may be amended only by a written instrument signed by each of the parties.
(Pp. 3-4) Any notice required to be given under this agreement shall be deemed given when mailed
by certified mail and properly addressed to the Chief of the receiving fire department (mailing
addresses specified), or to such addresses as specified in writing by the other party. (P. 4)
Liability: Each party shall hold harmless the other and other's governing body, agents, etc., from and
against any and all claims arising out of any negligent act or omission by its own employees. (P. 3)
Termination: Can occur if notice is given no less than 30 days prior to the termination date. (P. 2)
