Purpose: To provide emergency medical services and abilities to the Township by the City
Emergency Medical Services Department ("the Department").
Function: Public safety, Emergency medical service
Type: Collaboration
Organization: Joint agreement. Governing board. Single supply: City supplies emergency medical equipment and personnel to Township for an annual fee.
Duration: January 1, 1995 through December 31, 1995. In the event document is not fully executed
and approved prior to the date of commencement, it shall be deemed retroactive in force and effect
to the date of commencement upon its full execution and approval. (p. 2)
Services delivered: Department will respond to calls for emergency medical service so long as the
location of the emergency is accessible by roads reasonably safe for traverse by Department vehicles
and personnel. (P. 1)
Financing: Township shall pay to City sum of $74,543. Installments of one-fourth of the annual
payment shall be made on or before: April 10, July 10, October 10, December 31. Township may
elect to prepay any installments, or any part thereof, at any time before its due date, without penalty.

Administration: Members of the Department shall at all times be, and remain under the exclusive
direction and control of, the City. City is responsible for compensation of all Department employees.
(P. 2) A joint board known as the Crown Point-Center Township EMS Board, membership of which
shall consist of the City's Mayor, the City's Emergency Medical Department Chief, and the
Township's Trustee, shall administer the terms of this agreement.
Property: Real and personal property used by Department is acknowledged to be owned by City,
except for those items of equipment and trucks owned by Township, as listed in the attached
schedule (schedule not found in our copy). In the event of acquisition of any real or personal property
for departmental use, the same shall be owned by the entity purchasing or acquiring the same. In the
event of sale or disposal of property, the same shall be sold or disposed of by the respective entity
which owns the same. (P. 3)
Liability: "Failure to Respond" statement: City shall not be liable to Township or to any person or
persons in damages for any failure by the Department, or by any employee thereof, to heed or
respond to any alarm or call made or received in the duration of this agreement. (P. 3)
Termination: Occurs on December 31, 1995. (P. 3)
