Topic: Emergency ambulance service

Purpose: To provide Hancock County with emergency ambulance service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. (P. 1)

Type: Collaboration (Pp. 1, 3-4)

Organization: Joint agreement. No governing board. Single supply: County does not supply any personnel or equipment. City and Townships will each supply the needed personnel and equipment for the County. City will provide seven (7) paramedics, with two (2) assigned to each shift. Each Township will provide and maintain its own emergency ambulance. (Pp. 1, 3-4)

Duration: 1 calendar year (1995). Continues an existing agreement. (Pp. 3-4)

Financing: County will pay to the City one-half (½) of the costs of :

1). The salaries of the emergency ambulance employees. Paramedic's certification required of any employees who are added; not required of present employees.

2). The costs of up to fifteen (15) emergency ambulance service volunteers. Each must obtain an emergency medical technician's certificate.

3). All other costs, including pension payments. This amount will not exceed a total amount agreed to annually by both parties.

To obtain payment, the City will file claims with the County, detailing actual expenditures.

County will reimburse Townships in the amount of $35 for each emergency ambulance run where a patient is transported. Total number of runs to be reimbursed shall not exceed the number for which funds have been appropriated. To receive payment, Trustee of Township will submit claims. (Pp. 3-4)

Termination: May occur between County and City in two (2) ways:

1). Notification by either party on or before August 1 of the year of the present agreement. Termination effective the end of that year.

2). By failure of the parties to agree as to the amount to be paid by the County for the next calendar year. (P. 2)

May occur between County and Townships if notice is given on or before July 1 of the current contract year. Termination effective the end of that year. (Pp. 3-4)
